Owen became the youngest player ever to score for Liverpool when he netted in the 2-1 defeat away to Wimbledon on May 6, 1997. Earned a full England squad call up aged only 18 years and 2 months and was man of the match on his debut against Chile when he became the youngest England cap this century. Then became the youngest player ever to score for England with a goal against Morocco in a World Cup warm up game in May '98. Became a worldwide hero during France '98 and returned to Liverpool with the world aware of his immense talents.
